Providing and maintaining high-quality hearing aids for deaf and blind children in Sergiev Posad.

In Sergiev Posad, 60 km north of Moscow, lies Children’s Home, one of the few facilities in Russia dedicated to caring for deaf and blind children. The orphanage houses around 250 children, aged 3 to 17, with approximately 150 of them being deaf. Many come from underprivileged backgrounds or have lost their parents. While the Children’s Home provides food, lodging, and education, additional care—such as medical equipment—often falls outside state funding.

The Need for Hearing Aids

For many children, hearing aids can transform their lives, allowing them to communicate and engage with the world. However, a high-quality hearing aid costs between $1,500 and $2,000, making them inaccessible for most children at the orphanage.

For over eight years, Rotary Club Moscow International (RCMI) has worked tirelessly to bridge this gap. Thanks to generous donations, we have raised over $200,000, supplying 150 sets of hearing aids to children in need.

An Ongoing Mission

Every year, new children arrive at the Children’s Home, and existing hearing aids wear out after 5–6 years, making this an ongoing effort. Our goal is to continue providing life-changing support to these children, ensuring they have the tools to learn, connect, and thrive.
